Students deserve every opportunity

I will advocate for increased funding for our schools because students thrive in well resourced classrooms with the latest technology, current resources, and manageable class sizes. Academic excellence is achieved through sustained investment in the tools and support systems that allow every child to reach their full potential.

With forty years in Surrey Schools I have seen firsthand how the right resources and great teaching can transform a student's trajectory. Prioritizing Literacy, Numeracy, Science, Technology and the Arts provides a strong foundation for students. I will advocate for school based supports to ensure the needs of all students are met.

As your school trustee, I will push for funding decisions that put students first,

Building Classrooms & Upgrading Schools

White Rock and South Surrey aren't slowing down

The City Of Surrey projects that over the next ten years Surrey and White Rock will see an estimated 58,720 new residential units bringing roughly 11,000 school aged children into our schools. We must ensure that we are prepared for this growth.

We also need to ensure that existing buildings are seismically upgraded, so that all student and staff are working and learning in a space that is safe and inspiring.

As your Trustee, I will work tirelessly, lobbying all levels of government for the essential funding needed to build new schools and expand capacity, so every student has access to the classroom space they deserve.

Safe and Welcoming Schools For Everyone

I've worked full time as a Classroom Teacher, Vice Principal, and Principal in 11 different schools in SD36.

Every child deserves a warm and welcoming space where they can learn and grow. Children thrive when they feel safe, included and respected. A sense of belonging is the foundation for optimal learning.

I have long advocated for equity, diversity and inclusion, ensuring that every student and staff member can see themselves reflected and valued in their school community.

I am also committed to strengthening supports for Indigenous learners, and working with their families and Elders to honour their input and ensure our schools embrace culturally responsive practices.

I have championed  White Rock and Surrey students throughout my career and I plan to continue this work as your Trustee.

Strong Relationships With Parents and Community

A Real Voice for White Rock Families

My top priority as your school trustee will be to give White Rock families a strong and dependable voice at Board meetings.

With four decades of experience in Surrey classrooms and administration — across 11 different schools — I know that no two school communities are the same. A concern raised by a parent in one neighborhood may not register in another. Reports and district wide statistics can tell you a lot, but they can't tell you the entire story. To understand how it feels be a kid in a classroom, a teacher in a school, or a parent outside the building, you need to be present in our schools. I have a strong track record for listening and building strong relationships.

Showing up for all families, including students with individual education plans, IESW support, and those with diverse and exceptional needs is essential. Supporting our Indigenous communities, our diverse population - and truly listening to their needs is what I will do. That's the kind of Trustee I intend to be.
